Zelgadis’s gruff and sudden conclusion of things was enough to make her blink in anticlimactic surprise right before his equally sudden brace-and-stand made her jump slightly. It was a very… definite end to the conversation. Like a guillotine.
“I- I’m glad I could be of some help,” she replied blankly, some moments later, standing as well, closing the book on yep that’s what we needed to meet for. “And you’re right. There shouldn’t be sides to choose. But,” she looked away, towards the door of the parlour, “that’s up to you two, and only you two.”
She paused, sighed, and smiled. “I’m never too busy to go traveling with you and the others; you know that. I can’t count the many times I’ve left in the middle of whatever but really, I’m expendable in my duties. It’s just easier to pass them off to me when I’m available. The question is, is there any point in me going?”
As she’s said, she always did let him make the decisions.
[welp, idk. .^. Since stary’s in all these threads and Xellos and Sherra are getting involved it looked like this would develop into some big multijoewuewgib rp but iiiiiiidk if it will and if Amelia has any role to play in that. Should we ask the others?]
“As much of a point there is in anything we try, I’d think,” he responded with a small, but inviting smile. Though he’d never admit it, he was relieved that she was still willing to follow him after all his harsh words. As usual. Eventually, he might go too far and actually cause himself to be cut off; their conversation today was a reminder to him that although he had a safe and trusted friend in the spunky priestess, she had limits, as did all humans.
“Lina’s still hanging around, somewhere, and I suppose Xellos is creeping from behind a bush even as we speak. You’ll need some time to excuse yourself from your duties, I’d assume?” He gave a casual shrug as they left the parlor together. It was basically impossible for him to imagine having vaguely permanent responsibilities tied to a specific location, but he could pretend to at least sympathize a little for the sake of politeness. “I can go on and get a headstart on this manhunt, and perhaps you can join me at an inn near the outskirts of the city later this evening?”
(ooc: sorry, it’s a bit blah, but i figured i should just let things roll a bit. one more post from you and then i’ll set up a new thread, i think.)
